Expanding Access to Licensed Dietitians in Washington

Access to licensed dietitians is an important part of quality health care, particularly for people managing chronic conditions like kidney disease. Nutrition care plays a critical role throughout the course of kidney disease and becomes even more essential for patients receiving dialysis.


The Northwest Kidney Council recently submitted testimony in support of HB 2088, legislation that would enable Washington to join the Dietitian Licensure Compact. The compact would strengthen the health care workforce by improving mobility for licensed dietitians and expanding patient access to nutrition care, including through telehealth.
