This year, the Northwest Kidney Council is proud to announce that Governor Bob Ferguson has issued a proclamation declaring September 2025 as Polycystic Kidney Disease Awareness Month in Washington. Read the proclamation here.

Governor Ferguson's proclamation brings much needed attention to the medical toll of PKD - as well as highlighting the mental health toll of living with a chronic, life-threatening disease. Feelings of anxiety, isolation, and depression are common, and access to timely support and treatment is critical.
By bringing this issue to the forefront of Washingtonians, state leaders are taking an important step toward addressing these disparities. As Governor Ferguson stated, “PKD awareness empowers patients and families to seek diagnosis, support, and appropriate treatment.” At Northwest Kidney Council, we share this belief wholeheartedly.
