As we remember Kidney Month, we move on to another celebration important to the kidney community - honoring Donate Life Month this April. This month serves as a powerful reminder of the impact organ, eye, and tissue donation can have on the lives of those with chronic illnesses, including kidney disease.
At the Northwest Kidney Council, we are dedicated to advocating for quality kidney care and supporting patients in Washington and Oregon — where more than 2,000 people are waiting for kidney transplants (833 in Oregon and 1,244 in Washington).
We are proud to stand alongside our partners at Donate Life Northwest, whose tireless efforts have helped raise awareness about the life-saving gift of organ donation. Their commitment to connecting donors and recipients has brought hope to thousands of families across our region.
For patients with End-Stage Renal Disease, there is no cure.
For those living with kidney disease, organ donation can be a second chance at life. Every donor and registered organ donor have the power to transform the lives of individuals on the transplant waiting list.
This Donate Life Month, we encourage you to take part in raising awareness. Whether it’s by registering as an organ donor, sharing your story, or participating in events hosted by Donate Life Northwest, every action makes a difference. Together, we can spread the message of hope and honor the generosity of donors who give others a renewed opportunity to live a quality life.
Visit Donate Life Northwest to learn more about how you can get involved and become a registered organ donor. Your support helps strengthen the kidney care community and bring us closer to a world where every patient in need receives the gift of life.
Thank you for joining us in celebrating Donate Life Month and championing the cause of organ donation. Every story shared and every donor registered brings us a step closer to a brighter future for kidney patients.
